One would have thought that Apple would return to a more classic release program with the abandonment of the iPhone Mini announced since the release of the first model in 2020. It seems that this is not the case since according to the indiscretions collected by 9to5macthe Cupertino company would once again stick to four iPhones, but with a slight twist.
A slightly disrupted range
If the Mini disappeared, it would therefore be to make way for a second version of iPhone 14. Thus, we would find in the catalog the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 that we know well, accompanied by an iPhone 14 at the 6.7-inch screen, like the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Below the 6-inch bar, the only thing left in the apple catalog would be the iPhone SE 2022 with its 5.4-inch panel. The two new iPhone 14s would at the same time gain a definition equivalent to that of the 13 Pro models. 9to5mac continues by explaining that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max could benefit from a slightly larger screen thanks to the disappearance of the notch, replaced by a double punch currently object of many rumors.
9to5mac adds that non-Pro variants of the iPhone 14 might not feature Apple’s latest in-house chip, the supposed A16 Bionic. Instead, they should be equipped with the A15 present in the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. Reusing an old chip on its mobile flagships would be a first for Apple, even if this process has already been used by the firm on the Apple Watch Series 7, for example. As a reminder, the connected watch embeds the same SoC as the Watch Series 6. It is therefore possible that the A15 of the iPhone 14 is found there under a slightly different name, for example embellished with an X or a Z, like Apple has done so in the past on its iPads.
