Apple continues to secure the services of classical music experts with the acquisition of BIS Record. After 50 years of existence (and independence), the Swedish label therefore incorporates Apple Music Classical.

An interface that seriously deserves to be refined, but a catalog that should further gain in richness, diversity and depth. This is what we can say about Apple Music Classical, which will now be able to rely on the expertise and portfolio of the Swedish BIS Record, a label specializing in classical music since 1973, and whose acquisition was announced by Apple on September 5.

For context, this acquisition comes almost two years to the day after the acquisition of Primephonic, whose service served as the foundation for the launch of Apple Music Classical. At this stage, however, it is unknown when the BIS Record catalog will integrate Apple’s streaming platform. True to its habits in this area, the brand did not wish to comment on this acquisition.

Conversely, Robert von Bahr, founder of BIS Record, welcomed this change of flag. ” BIS will be integrated into Apple Music Classical and Platoon [une application d’Apple destinée aux artistes, lancée en 2022, NDLR] “, he reacted. ” If I am proud of this milestone, I am even more proud of the fact that all BIS staff, myself included, have been retained », he adds. A very important precision.

As a reminder, Apple Music Classical is available on iPhone and Android, but is still not accessible on Mac or iPad. At least for now.
