Each generation of iPhone has its micro-controversy. Since the iPhone 4 and its network problems, all new iPhones are scrutinized very closely to identify the slightest youthful bug. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are no exception to the rule and would suffer from a problem with the camera.
Photo module that wriggles
Several owners have indeed noticed a rather annoying behavior when capturing an image via Instagram, TikTok or Snapchat. When these apps try to access the main camera, the module begins to wiggle in all directions and produce a very reassuring mechanical noise. On Reddit, TikTok and YouTube, several testimonies report the same phenomenon. A video posted on TikTok shows how the photo module seems to freak out when used with a third-party app.
Fortunately, the problem only seems to manifest itself in this situation. Capturing a snapshot via the native Camera app does not cause this annoying behavior. In addition, not all iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max seem to be affected, thus limiting the scope of the situation.
The bug could be due to a software incompatibility between some apps and the camera’s optical stabilization mechanism. The jitter of the module indeed seems to be the result of an overactivity of the optical stabilizer, normally supposed to eliminate tremors thanks to a motion blur compensation system. With any luck, a software update of iOS or the affected apps should fix the problem. In the meantime, if you are concerned, the only solution is not to use these applications too much. A youtuber had the unpleasant surprise to find that his photo module had been damaged, no longer able to take stock by dint of vibrating in all directions.
Other youthful concerns on the iPhone 14
The camera isn’t the only component having problems. An internal rating obtained by MacRumors indicates that Apple is aware of a bug that completely freezes the iPhone after restoring data from iCloud or another phone. If the terminal does not respond to any request for more than 5 min, the Apple firm advises to force a restart by pressing the volume up button, then the down one and the power button.
