On April 20, Apple hosted the first keynote in 2021. There was a little bit of everything in the program – including a new color for the iPhone.

New technology from Cupertino: Apple presented numerous innovations on April 20 at its first event of the year. The spring keynote featured a revised iMac, a fresh iPad Pro, the new AirTag accessory and another color for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini.

iPhone soon also in purple

In time for spring, Apple has presented a fresh, colorful version of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. This means that the smartphone will in future be available in six different colors: blue, green, black, white, red and now also purple. Consumers can pre-order the new model from April 23rd, and the devices will be available from April 30th. Depending on the selected storage capacity, the purple iPhone 12 mini costs between 799 euros and 969 euros, the same-colored iPhone 12 costs between 899 euros and 1,069 euros.

Newly designed iMac and fresh iPad Pro

The new iMac, which was shown for the first time on Tuesday evening, is also a colorful eye-catcher. Equipped with an M1 chip and a 4.5K Retina display with 24 inches, the revised iMac waits especially with a compact – and with 11.5 millimeters extremely slim – design in the colors green, yellow, orange, rose, violet, blue and silver on. According to Apple, the device should have a volume that is 50 percent smaller than the 21.5-inch iMac. The 24-inch iMac can be pre-ordered from April 30th and delivery is scheduled for the second half of May. Depending on the preferred variant, the device costs between 1,449 euros and 1,899 euros.

The M1 chip is also used in a new version of the iPad Pro, which offers a 12.9 inch Liquid Retina XDR display – or optionally an 11 inch Liquid Retina display – and 5G support. A newly developed ultra-wide-angle camera with 12 megapixels on the front, which offers a follow-up mode, is also installed. This should ensure that people – for example during video chats – are kept centered in the picture. The new iPad Pro can be pre-ordered from April 30th and will then be available from the second half of May. Depending on the display size and the selected storage capacity, the price is between EUR 879 and EUR 2,409.

AirTag, Apple TV 4K, Apple Podcasts

Very soon there will also be key finders from Apple. These are called AirTag and will be available from April 30th for 35 euros individually and for 119 euros in packs of four. Any related items can be accessed via “Where is?” be located. Once set up, the app then shows, among other things, a directional arrow and a distance to the key ring you are looking for or the like.

The group has also presented a new version of the Apple TV set-top box. The next generation of Apple TV 4K will receive, among other things, a newly designed remote control, now has an A12 Bionic chip and supports HDR and content with 60 frames per second. The price of the device is 199 euros. Consumers can pre-order from April 30th, and the new generation should be available from the second half of May.

Podcast fans will not only receive a revised “Apple Podcasts” app, but will also be able to support their favorite podcasters in the future. From May there will be “Apple Podcasts Subscriptions”. Here, creators can offer premium subscriptions for a fee, which can include additional content, early access to episodes or ad-free listening, for example.
