Date for the keynote is set!
Apple has sent out official invitations for the first event in 2022. The purely virtual event has the motto “Peek Performance”, in German – “Our idea of performance”. The event takes place on Tuesday, March 8th at 7:00 p.m. German time. Here we tell you how you can follow the keynote via live stream and what alternatives there are.
iPhone SE 3, iPhone SE Plus or iPhone 2022 – what will the new Apple cell phone be called?
The answer to this question is probably only known to Apple at the moment. When the iPhone SE 2 replaced the first iPhone SE model, Apple spoke of the second generation iPhone SE for a while. That’s history, the official Apple website is currently only talking about the iPhone SE.
We expect something similar with the assumed new edition. To avoid confusion, the new smartphone will be called the third-generation iPhone SE for a while. In the course of the year, it will simply become an “iPhone SE”. It cannot be ruled out that Apple will present two iPhone SE variants with different sized displays. A model could then be called iPhone SE Plus. Or Apple uses the term to upgrade the well-known iPhone SE 2. We are currently not assuming that will be the case. For the sake of simplicity, we will refer to the iPhone SE 3 below.
When will the iPhone SE 3 appear?
There are many indications that Apple will present the iPhone SE 3 at an event in March. Specifically, the former Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who specializes in Apple rumors, speaks of an event on March 8, 2022.
There is already a corresponding entry at the Eurasian approval authority. As early as December 2021, Trendforce reported a release date in spring 2022. The first generation iPhone SE was released on March 21, 2016. The second generation followed on April 15, 2020. Test production of the iPhone SE 3 is said to have already started.
How much will the iPhone SE 3 cost?
Concrete information on the price is not yet available. We assume that there will be no significant price increase compared to the previous model. The second-generation iPhone SE is available with 64 gigabytes at a price of 479 euros. The 128 gigabyte variant costs 529 euros.
What will the iPhone SE 3 look like?
Both iPhone SE versions that have been released so far can hardly be distinguished visually from the model, the iPhone 8, which has long since been discontinued. The upcoming iPhone SE 3 should also be based on this. You can therefore expect a somewhat old-fashioned look. Put positively: You are presented with a familiar design.

However, this also means that there will probably be no changes to the thick screen bezels. Apple also needs this to accommodate the home button. It is unlikely that the iPhone SE 3 will have Face ID.
Display, chipset, 5G: what will the iPhone SE 3 have to offer technically?
We and others assume that the familiar 4.7-inch display will remain. Support for the 5G mobile communications standard is traded as a technical highlight. There are also positive things to report about the main processor.
The A15 Bionic chipset known from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro is to be used here. If this is the case, you don’t have to worry about a lack of performance – not even in the long term. Incidentally, you can assume that Apple will provide the iPhone SE 2022 with iOS updates for just as long as the high-end models.
An OLED screen is on the wish list of many potential buyers. Looking at the price tag, however, it is more likely that it will remain a simple LCD.
The iPhone SE 2 could remain in the program
