You can receive disaster warnings from public authorities on your iPhone via Cell Broadcast – without an additional app. This is how you activate the feature.
In Germany, the population will in future also be informed about natural disasters and other dangerous situations via SMS. For this to work, the Cell Broadcast function must be activated. The first test run for the system took place on December 8, 2022 during the nationwide warning day. The system has been in regular operation since February 2023. The next test is scheduled to take place on September 14th.

Why Cell Broadcast May Not Work for You
You didn’t receive an alarm SMS at 11 a.m. on warning day 2023? Then you should check the following sources of error to find out why Cell Broadcast didn’t work for you.
According to Apple, the feature is already activated on the Apple iPhone at the factory – provided your iPhone model is compatible. If you want to make sure that this is actually the case and that you have not accidentally switched off the function, you can check as follows whether Cell Broadcast is activated for you.
