Apple Music increases its price for students by one euro

Apple has discreetly increased the price of its Apple Music Student offer to 5.99 euros per month.

Since its launch in 2015, Apple Music has never increased its prices. While the competition (Spotify, Deezer, Tidal…) continues to test new offers to earn a little more money, Apple has always maintained its subscriptions at 4.99 euros per month (student), 9.99 euros per month (individual) and 14.99 euros per month (family). The student offer is all the more interesting as it includes free access to Apple TV+, normally charged at 4.99 euros per month.

As our colleagues from iGeneration noticed, Apple quietly passed a first price increase for Apple Music the week of June 20. Only the student offer is concerned, with a passage from 4.99 euros to 5.99 euros per month.

Apple Music makes students pay, others pay families

If Spotify has increased the price of its student formula in some countries, it is still at 4.99 euros per month in France. Apple Music and Deezer are the only services to exceed the symbolic 5 euros for students. On the other hand, Apple Music is one of the few streaming services with a family offer at 14.99 euros per month, despite possible access for 6 people (the others have increased it).

Overall, Apple Music’s offerings remain the most affordable, especially since they incorporate lossless and spatial audio. At 5.99 euros per month, Apple makes its films and series available, which makes it easier to overlook this increase. We would have preferred that Apple not touch its student offer, but that may seem logical. We can imagine that Spotify, still at 4.99 euros per month, will follow quite quickly.
