Apple must hurry to provide information on the new CarPlay

The Apple site still promises to unveil models compatible with the new generation of CarPlay, presented in 2022, before the end of 2023. There is therefore not much time left for the brand to keep its word.

At WWDC 2022, Apple presented a greatly revised version of CarPlay, its operating system dedicated to cars. The Apple brand promised a more coherent, complete and pleasant interface, while the iPhone plays a central role in displaying relevant information on the vehicle’s screens in complete safety.

In short, great announcements which augured a great duel between Apple CarPlay and Android Automotive. Alas, as pointed out 9to5Macthe Cupertino company has not given any news on this subject since WWDC 2022. However, there is not much time left to announce the models compatible with the new version of CarPlay.

An announcement at the end of 2023, really?

The specialized site puts forward an official page explaining the benefits of this system. By scrolling a little, we come across a passage “Next generation CarPlay», where we can read the following.

With the new version of CarPlay, find the best of the iPhone experience, directly in your car. When you’re behind the wheel, your vehicle and your iPhone become one and you benefit from a consistent interface on all screens, including the dashboard. You can control different functions like the radio and temperature, directly from CarPlay. And with multiple customization options, like widgets or a selection of meters and gauges, you get a truly unique experience.

However, just below this extract, we can read another piece of text: “Announcement of compatible models at the end of 2023“.

While we are at the very end of October at the time of publishing this article, Apple only has two months left to meet this deadline.

Maybe at the keynote at the end of October

Perhaps we will know more during the keynote on October 31 where we are expecting new Macs and a presentation of the M3 chip. It is also not impossible that Apple ends up discreetly changing the official page in question to indicate another temporality.
