While the calm before the storm still reigns in Cupertino, California, the rumor mill surrounding Apple, the manufacturer based there, has been simmering at full speed for months. Experts are expecting a veritable flood of hardware from the company in 2022. In all likelihood, a new iPhone SE will start things off. As early as the beginning of 2021, hints of a launch of the cheap Apple cell phone in the first half of 2022 were floating around the web for the first time. Most recently, insiders narrowed the period for the unveiling to March or April. The much-quoted and respected Apple expert Mark Gurman has now set a specific date.
As the Bloomberg journalist recently reported, he is assuming an Apple event on March 8, 2022. According to Gurman, the group is presenting the iPhone SE 3 with 5G support as part of this. This should not differ visually from the current 2020 model, but house a more powerful chip inside. This is probably the A15 Bionic, which also does its job in the iPhone 13, among other things. If the information is true, it will remain a 4.7-inch screen – and probably also a physical home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor and Apple’s Touch ID technology.
New iPad Air and iOS 15.4
But according to Gurman’s latest statements, the new iPhone SE is not the only innovation that Apple has in its luggage on March 8th. The iPad Air 5, which has already been eagerly awaited, should also be given a place in the spotlight on this day. According to Gurman, Apple’s mid-range tablet will also get a new processor and 5G support. According to previous rumours, everything remains the same in terms of design. Last but not least, the journalist expects the presentation and subsequent publication of iOS 15.4 in the course of the upcoming event.
The new system software for iPhone and iPad boasts, among other things, a revised version of the face recognition software Face ID. In the future, users should also be able to reliably recognize them when wearing a mouth and nose protector. iPhone fans have been complaining about problems unlocking their smartphones since the beginning of the corona pandemic because face recognition with a mask does not work. On top of that, according to the report, the new iOS could bring fresh emojis and introduce the universal control feature. The latter ensures that you control multiple iPads and Macs with just one mouse and keyboard combination.
