It was one of the expected announcements of Apple’s first Keynote of the year. A new Retina display titled “Studio Display”, shown alongside the new iPhone SE 5G (2022), an Apple Mac Studio, a new iPad Air, a 5K display named Studio Display, and a new chip super powerful, the M1 Ultra.

Here is the CV of the beast: an aluminum design, 27 inches, 14.7 million pixels, 1 billion colors, 5K Retina resolution, maximum brightness of 600 cd / m², full DCI-P3 coverage. In short, we are on solid ground. A prioriit is an IPS LCD panel, otherwise Apple would probably have specified that it was OLED.

Apple knows its fans well, and there are countless images on social networks of impeccable offices on which a screen bearing the Apple logo is enthroned. The Studio Display will be able to enter the dance, because as a base, it happens to be tiltable up to 30 degrees. In addition, an option allows you to add a very practical adjustable arm. It is also VESA compatible, which allows it to be hung, either horizontally or less conventionally, in portrait position why not.

It should be noted, however, that to offer this screen at a decent price, Apple has chosen a fairly low screen/chassis ratio. The result is rather wide borders.

An iPhone chip

Another surprise from the chef with this screen: it incorporates an A13 Bionic chip, which was fitted to older iPhone models. This chip allows, among other things, to operate the camera and audio systems of the screen.

Because yes, the Studio Display has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, the same as on the iPad. It also incorporates the “central stage” which keeps you always in the center of the image in case of video. The sound shouldn’t be too bad either, as evidenced by the presence of three “studio quality” microphones that we are sold. They are undoubtedly very good, but it should not be abused too much.

To finish on the audio part, six speakers, four for bass and two for treble and midrange should produce a rather warm sound. Dolby Atmos certification and Spatial Audio are also included. What to appreciate his films or his series.

At the back, the Display offers three USB-C ports, and a Thunderbolt port. This one is able to send a charging power up to 96W. Enough to charge a MacBook Pro. You can also connect up to three Studio Displays to a single MacBook Pro, according to Apple.

Let’s end with the announcement of a new Magic Keyboard, with a new mouse and a new mouse pad. The three accessories are sold separately.

You will have to pay 1749 euros to get your hands on this very high-end screen. It is already possible to order it and will be available from March 18.
