Actually, an Apple employee only wanted to help a customer, but her harmless TikTok video has consequences. She should delete the video, otherwise, according to Apple, there could be a threat of termination. Instead of removing the TikTok video, she has now published a second one.
Apple threatens employee over TikTok video
Apple employee Paris Campbell found a video on TikTok of an iPhone user whose smartphone was stolen. Without further ado, she made a reaction in which she recommended the customer not to log out of her iPhone under any circumstances. That’s the only way, she says, to keep the thieves from logging into the iPhone. In the video she gave herself indirectly as an Apple employee known.
Well-intentioned advice, however, has consequences. According to Campbell, she was contacted by an Apple executive. He instructed her to delete the TikTok video. Otherwise would Disciplinary action up to and including termination threaten. When she asked what exactly would happen if the video stayed online, there was only a short answer. The manager would get in touch again, it is said. That hasn’t happened yet.
Instead of removing the video, Campbell posted a second on TikTok. There she explains that Apple’s social media guidelines never mention that Apple employees are not allowed to identify themselves as such on platforms like TikTok. In the first video, she described herself as a “certified hardware engineer” who works for a company that “talks about fruit a lot and loves it.”
