Apple TV+ announces new drama series starring Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin

the award-winning actor Michael Douglas becomes the role of Benjamin Franklin take over in a new Apple Original series. Apple TV+ has announced a new series of events from writer Kirk Ellis (“John Adams”) and director Tim Van Patten (“Perry Mason”).

In the still unnamed series Hollywood legend Michael Douglas (“The Kominsky Method”) will play the lead role as Benjamin Franklin. The drama series is based on the book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America by Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff.

Thus, the drama will narrate one of the greatest feats of Benjamin Franklin’s career. At the age of 70 and without any diplomatic training, Franklin convinced France – an absolute monarchy – to support America’s democratic constitution.

The event limited series is written and produced by Kirk Ellis and directed by Tim Van Patten. Patten also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Douglas, Richard Plepler, Tony Krantz and Mark Mostyn. Author Stacy Schiff will be on board as co-executive producer.
