Silo is Apple’s next crazy bet. This series adapted from the novel of the same name is unveiled today in a first trailer. The latter poses its oppressive atmosphere and its colossal stakes.

The series is carried by Rebecca Ferguson (Dune) and will arrive on the Apple TV+ service from May 5th. As usual, it will be distilled at the rate of one episode per week.

Silo, the next event series from Apple TV+

Silo tells us the story of a dying humanity. After an apocalypse the survivors took refuge in huge underground shelters, the silos, and since then, a new company has been created. Of the outside world, hardly anyone knows anything. Those who break the rules are kicked out and never come back. We follow Juliette, a mechanic who will try to unlock the secret of the silo. Who’s out there? Who controls the cameras that send images from outside? Are there other micro-societies besides his?

Silo is the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s novel (Silo in French, Wool in VO) and published in 2011. A real slap in the small world of science fiction, it broke sales records and two sequels have since been released: Silo Origins and Silo Generations. So there will be plenty to do for the next seasons.

In his saga, Hugh Howey plays brilliantly with the codes of suspense and post-apo to offer us a breathtaking story that we can’t get away from until the last page. Apple has all the cards in hand to deliver an event series that will hypnotize us with each episode. It remains to be seen whether the formula will take hold with the general public.

Fun fact, Silo isn’t the only Hugh Howey book to be the center of attention. His novel Phare 23 (2015) will also be adapted into a series by the American channel AMC. It is already filmed but does not yet have a release date.
