Apple unveils first images of Joaquin Phoenix in Ridley Scott’s Napoleon

This Monday, the world vibrated with the announcement of the Vision Pro at WWDC 2023, but moviegoers were also treated to a little surprise. At the bend of a trailer for the mixed reality headset, Apple revealed the first images of the film Napoleon by Ridley Scott, with Joaquin Phoenix as the French Emperor.

A handful of unprecedented seconds

Until now, we had only been able to see a few photos of the feature film. Apple has been generous and gives us today a few seconds of unpublished images of its next big production, at the turn of a pub for its Vision Pro. Be careful, don’t blink.

Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, blade runner), Napoleon will mark the reunion of the filmmaker with Joaquin Phoenix, 23 years later Gladiator. The film will recount Corsica’s accession to power and his special relationship with Empress Josephine. The cast also includes Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), Ludivine Sagnier (Lupine), Tahar Rahim (A prophet) and Ben Miles (Andor).

Napoleon will be released in cinemas on November 22, 2023. It will then be available on the Apple TV+ streaming platform, accessible in France in particular via Canal+.

The Apple firm recently announced an investment of one billion dollars in its productions intended for cinema release. In addition to Napoleon, Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert de Niro, is expected in theaters on October 18.
