Let’s go back to the basics first. If the helmets VR use 72 Hz by default, it’s no coincidence. The refresh rate was first calculated against the number of frames per second of a standard film production (24 fps). You guessed it, 72 being a multiple of 24, this allows you to watch movies and series without shaking the image.
We now know that the Vision Pro adopts a 90 Hz refresh. This number is not a multiple of 24, and Apple wishing to offer the best cinematic experience possible, the firm indicated that the helmet would go up, specifically to meet this need, to 96 Hz.
Moreover, note thathigh refresh rate helps fight motion sickness (the famous motion sickness). For a wider audience, ATapple therefore made the right choice to start from 90 Hz and not go below. Of course, given the power of his space computer, he can easily afford it. Nothing says on the other hand if the helmet will know an update allowing to go much further than the 96 Hzlike theOculusQuest which inherited a 120 Hz boost. So, wait & see.
