Apple wants to offer motorized modular accessories to automatically adjust the helmet

Apple has filed a patent application which suggests that the Vision Pro will be able to automatically adjust to the measurements of its wearer.

Apple has just introduced the Vision Pro, its first virtual/augmented reality headset to the general public. A lot of work remains to be done both on the software aspect, the operating system VisionOS does not yet have a real library of applications, than on the material level. Until the accessory is actually marketed, the company must in particular solve the problem of the adjustment of the Vision Pro.

Currently, Vision Pro users can adjust the comfort and tension of the headband with the Fit Dial manual shifter. It’s already good, but it’s far from sufficient for an optimal fit, which allows you to enjoy an immersive experience without any discomfort. The ergonomics of the helmet and its custom fit are so important to Apple that it will not be possible to buy it without having fixed an appointment beforehand.

Such technology could make the Vision Pro much more attractive to the general public. At present indeed, it seems that the apple-stamped helmet is only intended to be used comfortably by one person. It is a personalized object, adjusted to your measurements, from the headband to the lenses fitted with glasses to the appropriate ophthalmic corrections, if necessary. Automating and motorizing this type of adjustment could save on the final bill, because these customizations will have a price, as always with Apple: the helmet will cost even more if you wear glasses.
