You can not stop progress ! Apple filed a patent to read messages with your voice. Yes, yours!

After discovering new rumors around the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, let’s now dwell on what could be one of the future revolutions of our smartphones in the coming years.

You might replace Siri (well, not totally)

For many smartphone users, smart assistants have become essential in their daily lives: launching an application, calling a friend or even sending a message to a family member… nowadays, all of this has become possible by voice. An ideal solution for those who wish to optimize their time and do several activities at the same time.

On Apple’s side, Siri is capable of many things with your guidance, including reading text messages using her sweet, melodic voice. However, the latter could well give up its place to you in the years to come, according to this new patent filed by Apple. A patent full of promise, although it still raises many questions.

When Apple wants to personalize your texts with… your voice!

Have you ever imagined for a single moment receiving a text message from your boss and being able, early in the morning, to listen to it with his voice? If not, know that Apple has done it for you. In a patent shared recently, we learn that the Cupertino company is considering a way to develop a personalized voice system for text messaging. In other words, after recording your voice in your phone, you will be able to attach a voice file to the message you are writing. This can then then be listened to like a voice message (except that it is obviously not a voice message).

For more details, here is how Apple describes said feature: For example, in response to receiving a message from a contact named “John”, a user may wish to listen to the message in John’s voice, which improves the user experience while increasing the efficiency of the device by eliminating the need for the user to read the received message.

John may be nice, John may even have a very nice voice. But we have to admit that the concept can, on paper, quickly become… strange? If it is, for the moment, only a simple patent, it is still a safe bet that this functionality will one day or another see the light of day. And you, are you attracted to the idea that your voice could be used in this way?

Apple iPhone 14

  • Overall performance
  • Screen quality
  • Photo-video quality

To claim that the iPhone 14 is just a marginally improved iPhone 13 isn’t entirely true…nor false, for that matter. If it inherits the appearance and the screen of its elder, it recovers the SoC of the iPhone 13 Pro (and its more powerful GPU). The back camera changes little at the hardware level, but now benefits from the new Photonic Engine which improves the quality of images in low light.

More interesting for selfie fans, the front camera gains autofocus which ensures sharp images and has the cinematic mode which switches to 4K. Video capture benefits from an ultra-stabilized “action” mode that we consider successful.

Finally, the device improves the safety of its owner thanks to the detection of car accidents as well as the possibility of sending a distress message by satellite (in the United States only for the moment). Can we reasonably advise this iPhone 13S which does not say its name? Yes, if you are sensitive to its novelties or if you want to switch from an old model (iPhone X and earlier) to a state-of-the-art iPhone.

If these few new features leave you cold, turn instead to the iPhone 13, still in the catalog and whose price will be a little lower (between 110 and 150 euros less, depending on the model).

Sold at 1,019, 1,149 or 1,409 euros (128, 256 and 512 GB versions) in France, the entry ticket is high. Very high. Especially since Apple no longer considers it useful to provide a charger with the device. On the other side of the Atlantic, the price is significantly lower. It is true that taxes and other European frills add to the bill. But not to the point of creating such a price difference, especially at a time when the dollar and the euro are almost equivalent…
