Apple Watch: all chargers will soon be faster!

Future Apple Watch accessories will definitely ditch slow charging in favor of much faster charging.

In a few weeks, Apple Watch accessories registered in the MFi program will all have to opt for fast-charging modules.

Apple will force accessory manufacturers to adopt fast charging for its connected watches

A few weeks before their formalization, the next ranges of Apple connected watches definitely do not stop talking about them. A few weeks ago, we were able to get our hands on a patent suggesting that the screen of the Apple Watch Series 9 could offer an extended display surface. Some time later we learned that the Apple Watch Ultra 2, in addition to being noticeably lighter than the first generation model, could be the first Apple device to usher in a change of materials for its design.

Today is not a new feature that the site Apple Insider shares with us, but rather a reversal of strategy. We learn that the Cupertino company will now encourage accessory manufacturers to exclusively adopt a fast charging module for its connected watches.

Faster charging for everyone, but a higher price?

In 2021, on the occasion of the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7, the apple brand took the opportunity to introduce a very fast charging system. Using an inductive charging cable (20 watt AC adapter required), the watch enjoyed a noticeably improved charging speed compared to previous iterations. From September 30, all props will have to adopt the fast charging module (reference C962), we learn Apple Insider.

For information, Tim Cook’s firm charges accessory suppliers more for the fast charging module. Therefore, it’s a safe bet that Apple Watch accessory prices will be higher for consumers. Manufacturers only have until August 31, 2023 to present new products to Apple that include the slow charging module (reference C162).
