Apple would release with its next connected watch a new design which would pose a problem for old bracelets.

On September 7, Apple will unveil its new collection of connected watches, and this year should be particularly interesting.

An XXL and reinforced connected watch for athletes

If we already know that the brand will present the Apple Watch Series 8 and should also update its entry-level watch, the Apple Watch SE, with a new processor, the real novelty would be the appearance of a brand new model that would be called Apple Watch Pro.

This latest tocante would be particularly suited to the needs of the most seasoned athletes, with greater autonomy and a more resistant case, capable of withstanding shocks for extreme sports enthusiasts.

This new watch would also feature a new, flatter design with a screen size between 47 and 48mm, compared to 45mm for the Apple Watch Series 7. It should also be more expensive, with an estimated price of around 1 000 dollars.

Wider bands to perfectly fit the new Apple Watch Pro size

This new case would nevertheless pose a problem for Apple Watch owners who have collected bracelets over the years. Indeed, according to a leaker who calls himself UnclePan on the Weibo social network, the Apple Watch Pro would not allow the use of its old bracelets and would force its first owners to buy new, slightly larger accessories designed especially for this watch. connected.

Mark Gurman, journalist at Bloomberg, is less categorical. He believes that the attachment system used by Apple since the first Apple Watch would remain in place, but that the current bracelets would not perfectly match the XXL case of the Apple Watch Pro. The most aesthete users would have no choice but to renew their collection or to confine themselves to the Apple Watch Series 8, which will retain the attachment system and will be compatible with all the bracelets marketed by the brand.

Apple renews its ranges of bracelets several times a year with new seasonal colors, but also new models such as the simple buckle bracelet, without holes or fixing nails. The Cupertino company has also partnered with the French luxury brand Hermès for high-end leather models that often cost more than the connected watch in its basic version.
