With the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple has also been offering a smartwatch for extreme athletes since September. The trailer shown at the presentation of the watch already showed a scene in which the Apple Watch Ultra sank into the sea, displaying information such as water temperature and water depth. However, this functionality was not available until now. Now she is submitting to Apple with a new app.
The manufacturer from Cupertino has developed the “Oceanic+” app in cooperation with Huish Outdoors. This is a dive computer in app form, which shows you all relevant data on the Apple Watch Ultra – such as depth and time.
Full range of functions only with a subscription
According to Apple, the smartwatch can be used at depths of up to 40 meters without any problems, which corresponds to the maximum depth recommendation for scuba divers. The app also warns you if you ascend or descend too quickly. It also creates time estimates of when you will reach the surface or the desired depth. You can also display a compass for orientation.

The app is also equipped with a pre-dive planner, which takes into account aspects such as tides, temperature, visibility conditions and currents to calculate possible hazards for your dive.
The app can be downloaded for free. However, a subscription is required for the full range of functions. This also provides access to decompression tracking, nitrogen loading, location planner and unlimited logbook capacity. The Oceanic+ premium subscription costs €11.99 per month or €96.99 per year. Family Sharing for shared access with up to five other people is available for €134.99 per year.
