According to Ming-Chi Kuo, various factories were ordered to suspend their activity until August 20, in order to avoid a congestion of the electricity network, in a region where energy comes mainly from hydroelectric dams.

The restrictive measures put in place by China would notably affect the sites of Foxconn in Chengdu and Compal in Chongqing, two production areas dedicated to the Apple iPad.
According to the analyst, the impact will remain quite limited, but if the situation does not improve by August 20, it is difficult to know precisely how big the impact will be on iPad supply for the end. of the year.
Note that similar restrictions cannot be ruled out with regard to other production sites in China, which may therefore affect the production of other Apple products. This would be a blow for the American giant, which intends to take advantage of the end of 2022 to renew its catalog.
