While the famous iPhone manufacturer is secretly preparing the new products that it will announce during its Halloween conference, new rumors concerning its range of wireless headphones have appeared on the web. The famous Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurmann, claims that Apple will give a major overhaul to its AirPods range in 2024/2025.
Better range consistency
Having become a real engine of Apple’s growth over the years, AirPods are selling well, but not exactly as the company would like. Indeed, the 3rd generation headphones are less popular than the previous model (sold for €50 less on the Apple website) or the Pro model. Anxious to offer a more coherent range and more marked differences, Apple should therefore eliminate the two current models (but keep the Pro model) during the year 2024.
As a replacement, two 4th generation devices should see the light of day. Sold at approximately the same price as the 2nd and 3rd generation AirPods, these headphones should nevertheless more clearly mark their differences in range. The most expensive model should feature active noise reduction technology as well as a case with a speaker to help you find your headphones. The entry-level AirPods should just benefit from a construction more suited to most ears.
To clearly mark the generational break, each model should feature a new design. which looks like a mix of the third generation of AirPods and the Pro model » according to Bloomberg. On occasion, Apple is also expected to switch its entire line of headphones to USB-C. Small downside however, the entry-level AirPods 2024 should still not have replaceable silicone tips.
USB-C for everyone
In 2025, the AirPods Max should also go through the renewal mill at Apple, but Bloomberg provides little information on this subject. We just know that the headset should also switch to USB-C and embed a new chip which would be used to measure certain health data.
In any case, even if AirPods are selling well today, Apple can’t afford to rest on its laurels. Competition in the sector is fierce with very interesting products coming from Jabra, Sony and Samsung.
