Apple is also getting into generative AI, but with a certain delay compared to its competitors!

AI was the topic of the year 2023 due to the meteoric emergence of ChatGPT. Since then, all the tech giants have followed the path of the Microsoft-OpenAI couple, even if one company among the GAFAM seems (surprisingly) lagging behind: Apple. The Cupertino company was in fact simply “ caught off guard “, which puts him way behind in the race. But she intends to rebuild herself, while following her own rhythm.

AI is coming to WWDC 2024

Apple will eventually offer an alternative of its own to ChatGPT. But for those who hope to one day be able to use such a tool, you will have to be patient. Because according to Mark Gurman, the journalist from Bloomberg which has covered Apple news for many years, the first public presentation of in-house AI will not take place until next June, during the 2024 edition of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

On this occasion, the Californian company will showcase the advances in its generative AI, which is based on the language model called Ajax, and which has been developed internally since last year. Many Apple products should be able to benefit from this technology, whether Page, Keynote, Siri, Apple Music, or even Xcode.

Samsung already on the lookout

However, if there is ambition at Apple, Mark Gurman explains that we will have to wait another year to see generative AI widely deployed in the Apple environment. However, by 2025, ChatGPT, Bard and other tools already used advantageously on a daily basis by a large audience will have had time to improve and build a little more loyalty among Internet users.

A delay which could be even more detrimental in a sector in which Apple is at the forefront: smartphones. Because its long-time competitor, Samsung, has also launched into the AI revolution, and wants to integrate this technology into its brand new Galaxy S24, which will be presented… on Wednesday January 17, in a little less than 10 days! Suffice to say that the brand is entering this race with a certain handicap.
