Against all expectations, Apple has just announced that it will reinstate the Epic Games developer account. Therefore, Fortnite will soon be able to make its comeback on iPhone.
In recent days, the twists and turns have been one after the other for the Apple brand. While we learned last week that Apple was finally going to keep web apps on European iPhones, a new event has shaken up the series between Apple and Epic Games, the studio behind Fortnite. The publisher will finally be able to launch its own application store on iPhone and once again offer Fortnite on iOS in Europe.
Apple VS Epic Games: when the European Union gets involved
On March 6, the day the Digital Markets Act (DMA) came into force, Apple banned Epic Games’ developer account. Fortnite will therefore be able to make its comeback on iOS and the launch of the Epic Games Store in Europe will no longer be obstructed by the rules put in place by Apple.
“ Apple has notified the Commission and Epic that it will relent and restore our access to the return of Fortnite and the launch of the Epic Games Store in Europe under the DMA Act “said Tim Sweeney on X.com following Apple’s change of heart.
After two days of fierce battle between Apple and Epic Games, and while waiting for their next point of disagreement, the two giants have finally found common ground. From there to thinking that the intervention of the EU had a considerable influence on the outcome of this story, there is only one step…
