Apple would work on a connected screen and new features for the AirPods Pro

Mark Gurman, analyst at Bloomberg, predicts that Apple is developing a new smart display and working on new features for future AirPods.

The analyst says the screen will be able to act as a smart home display when not in use by a single user on a computer. This new display could use a dedicated Apple silicon chip and work similar to the StandBy feature Apple announced at this year’s WWDC.

This large screen could be connected to a Mac to access more features, such as applications or web browsing. The display could also work independently of a Mac to act as a smart display in low-power mode, like an Amazon Echo Show.

Include in the AirPods sensors to measure body temperature through the ear canal

In addition, Mark Gurman understands that Apple plans to integrate USB-C charging, interoperability with the Apple Vision Pro and new health functions in the AirPods. Apple is also reportedly working on using AirPods as a support for hearing tests to assess the quality of a person’s hearing.

Apple is also reportedly exploring the possibility of including sensors in AirPods that can measure body temperature through the user’s ear canal. However, Gurman estimates that these health functions will not see the light of day for several months or even years.

We can, however, expect to see a USB-C charging-enabled AirPods Pro charging case much sooner, especially since Apple is readying this year’s iPhone 15 with a USB-C port instead of the USB-C port. Lightning.

Additionally, Gurman says AirPods will be a central audio component of the Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s mixed reality headset. According to him, the AirPods will allow listening while using the Vision Pro and could offer a more immersive audio experience.

When iOS 17 is released later this year, we’ll see a list of new AirPods software updates, such as Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness.
