Apple’s Vision Pro Labs for developers opens this week

Apple continues to expand support for developers actively building apps intended to work with visionOS, Apple’s operating system for its Vision Pro XR headset.

The Cupertino company has announced that members of the Apple Developer Program and the Apple Developer Enterprise Program can apply to participate in Vision Pro development labs to test and optimize their applications under visionOS.

New app or optimization for visionOS

Developers must be at least 18 years old to participate in the Vision Pro development labs in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Once a developer has applied, he has to wait for Apple to send him an email informing him whether or not his application has been validated.

Selected developers can expect to test and perfect their VisionOS apps with help from Apple experts. Developers should bring their Mac, code, and anything else they need to optimize their app for Vision Pro.

Apple will only select developers for the Vision Pro Development Lab if they have a new visionOS app in development or visionOS optimization of an existing iOS or iPadOS app.

Vision Pro development kits

In addition to Vision Pro Labs, Apple Developer Program account holders can request a Vision Pro Developer Kit. This kit includes an Apple Vision Pro headset, Apple expert guidance, and development assistance.

Eligible developers can request a Vision Pro Development Kit and access to the Vision Pro Development Lab on Apple’s developer website. To participate in a Vision Pro lab, potential developers must submit a screenshot of their application running in the visionOS simulator.

Apple’s Vision Pro labs will begin this week and run through August 24. The lab schedule is available on the Apple Developer website.
