Do you want to know how to apply cream products correctly? We also! That's why we asked beauty expert Trinny Woodall in an interview.

If there is one makeup category that is totally underrated by most, it is creams. And by that we don't mean concealer and foundation, but cream bronzer, rouge or eyeshadow. The reason we don't use them as often as we maybe should: We're scared. Fear that the result will be blotchy or not last. Trinny Woodall, founder of the British beauty brand Trinny London and makeover expert, sees it very differently. We met her for an interview at the Trinny London launch in Germany and she explained to us what to look out for.

The biggest difference to powder products is of course the formulation. Cream products can therefore be applied and processed in a completely different way. A big advantage – at least according to Trinny Woodall:

It makes it so easy to put on makeup and so quick. I will do my makeup without a lie in about two minutes. I think it allows us to have a better relationship with our skin because I like to use my fingers to apply it. When you use powder products, you apply them and they can sometimes be difficult to move or blend against your skin. Cream products have a much better texture on the skin.

Brushes are (not) a must

We all often resist using our fingers. At least when it comes to bronzer, blush & Co. We don't want to get them dirty and just aren't used to applying paint with our fingers.

If I use a brush with a bronzer, it can be that you simply apply too much product and apply far too much and too extensive. That can then make the result very one-dimensional. Cream bronzer, on the other hand, can be built up slowly with your fingers.

So you can better determine the pigmentation with your finger and have a little more control. And if you are afraid that the result will be blotchy: Most cream products are formulated in such a way that they do not become blotchy. If they do, then they contain too many oils, according to Trinny Woodall. So not all cream products are created equal.

Fixing fails

Anyone who does manage to use creamy products knows from Instagram, YouTube and Co .: We then have to use powder products to make them last a long time. But why should we apply the same product twice? Trinny Woodall uses only cream products every day and has a very personal tip on how to fix her make-up:

I would use our Face Finish or Miracle Blur. They are quasi a finisher, but also a soft focus. I give one of them through my base, but still not move the product underneath because of the perfect balance between pigments and active ingredients. In five hours, I'll still look like this.

In plain language: A product that most would rather use under the Foundation and Co., we can just as easily give through our base. Exactly where the products should last as long and as good as possible. Above all, speak in the T-Zone. Simply dab a primer with a soft focus effect into your T-zone. If you work with little pressure, nothing can slip.

No fear

If you have oily skin, you don't want to look greasy. Anyone with dry skin is afraid of a matt finish. But let me tell you one thing – there is always the golden mean:

Placement is key! I place glow or highlights where the skin should look plump and fresh. I would rather keep the areas that are not supposed to look falsely oily, matt. This trick will make you look ten years younger.

You see, it doesn't have to be completely matte or completely glowy – there is something in between. And you can create exactly this look with just cream products. You just have to know how.
