France 3 broadcasts this Tuesday evening “Appointment with crime”, a detective television film adapted from the novels “Les Détectives du Yorkshire” written by Julia Chapman and carried by Arié Elmaleh and Sophie de Furst. Is this fiction worth watching?
When Samson Brion, a cop in hiding, arrives in his native village in the heart of Brittany, fifteen years after having left it suddenly, most of the inhabitants see this return with a very bad eye.
In particular Lila Sept-Vents, an impetuous local entrepreneur, who is trying to save her online dating agency from bankruptcy. For this, she decides to rent the ground floor of her premises, but it is very angry that she realizes that her new tenant is none other than Samson, the best friend of her brother who is now deceased.
Yet when a string of suspicious deaths hits this uneventful little town, and Lila discovers that all of the victims were clients of her agency, having a cop under her roof could prove invaluable.
As for Samson, helping Lila shed light on these murders that threaten her agency would be an opportunity to bury the hatchet she has been brandishing above her head since her return.

Written by Laurent Burtin, who notably worked on the screenplays of Astrid and Raphaëlle, and by Fabienne Lesieur (Meurtres à Belle-Île), Rendez-vous avec le Crime is an adaptation of the first novel in the British literary saga. Yorkshire Detectives written by Julia Chapman.
To embody Samson and Lila, the two main characters, the production called on Arié Elmaleh (Tropiques Criminels, Le Souffle du dragon) and Sophie de Furst, known for her role as Emma Tomasi in Profiling.
Gaelle Bona (Mongeville), Marius Colucci (Syndrome E), Baya Rehaz (Tandem) and Michel Jonasz (And the mountain will flower…) complete the cast of this fiction directed by Méliane Marcaggi.
For several years now, France 3 has specialized in detective television films, in particular with its “Meurtres à…” collection, which has met with success with each new opus.
And if the theme of the cop who makes his comeback in his small native village has already been seen and seen again on the small screen, Appointment with Crime manages to hit the mark by offering us an original scenario all in lightness. Very quickly, we are carried away in this investigation with multiple twists, which manages here and there to insert small touches of well-founded humor.
When Samson returns to the village where he grew up after fifteen years of absence, he realizes that many things have changed, and that he is not necessarily welcome. And it’s certainly not Lila, the sister of his deceased best friend, who will welcome him with open arms.
But when a string of suspicious deaths hits this uneventful little town and Lila realizes that all of the victims were listed on her dating site, the two former friends will team up to unravel this mystery.
If on paper Appointment with Crime sounds like any other detective TV movie, this fiction stands out above all thanks to its actor duo which works wonderfully.
Arié Elmaleh and Sophie de Furst have an undeniable chemistry. The latter also brings a lot of freshness and good humor to this plot with a surprising outcome.
In short, Appointment with Crime is an amusing and singular detective film based on impeccable actors in their interpretation. We would almost like to see the continuation of the adventures of this duo that everything opposes.
