Approaching USA ?: China does not want a new "Cold War"

The United States and China are fighting for supremacy in the world. The US government is fine with any topic to push the rival from Asia. Beijing also takes every opportunity to criticize the United States. Now, however, the measure seems full for China – détente policy is announced.

China wants to avoid a further escalation of tensions with the United States. "I don't think a new Cold War would serve anyone. Why should we let history repeat itself when we face so many new challenges," said Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai. The world's two largest economies should work together instead of against each other.

The US-China relationship had deteriorated further in the past few weeks when the Washington government closed the Chinese consulate in Houston over allegations of espionage. China rejected the allegations and closed the US consulate in the southwestern city of Chengdu in response.

China and the US cross over on several issues, including combating the coronavirus pandemic, trade relations, and dealing with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The United States also accuses China of human rights violations in the case of the Uighurs.
