“Apropos” celebrates – “My parents’ snack stand was a brilliant school”

Michi Gründler maneuvers the Salzburg social project “Apropos” through thick and thin. In an interview with the “Krone” she tells where she learned how to deal with very different people.

For 21 years, Michaela “Michi” Gründler has been in charge of the award-winning Salzburg social project street newspaper “Apropos”. This year it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Born in Linz, she manages the balancing act between academically educated people, whom she interviews for articles, and (formerly) homeless people who sell “Apropos”. My parents’ snack stand, where I helped as a child, was a brilliant school,” says the 50-year-old with a laugh. There she had already had to deal with a wide variety of people. Ever since Gründler took over “Apropos” shortly after completing her German and journalism studies in Salzburg, it has become a fixture in Salzburg. “Now even a luxury hotel is exhibiting us,” beams Gründler. She admits that the work is strenuous. That’s why she meditates for half an hour every morning and always rides her bike to work.New: A different kind of city walkSo she draws energy for constantly new projects like this one: The Salzburg street newspaper seller Evelyne Aigner gives her very on a city walk developed with Michaela Gründler personal experiences further. Aigner was and is poor himself. But she experienced many people and institutions in Salzburg who helped her and lifted her up again and again. Salzburgers can get to know three of these stations better every Thursday during the new walk.
