Connected objects are intended to make everyday life easier, and pet owners are not forgotten. The pet tech, understand the market for new technologies designed for our four-legged friends, is beginning to attract players from all walks of life, like Xiaomi. The Chinese giant recently launched a kibble dispenser and an animal fountain. His compatriot Aqara is now following in his footsteps. Specialist in the connected home, of which we also find certain products for the home stamped Xiaomi, announces the arrival of a distributor of croquettes.

Nearly 2 kg of kibble in reserve and several scenarios to release them

Not to be confused with Xiaomi’s Smart Pet Feeder, Aqara’s Smart Pet Feeder C1 has a more rounded design and a transparent compartment to store kibble. It is thus possible to roughly assess the remaining quantity at a glance, without opening it or taking out your smartphone.

The Aqara Smart Pet Feeder C1

In terms of quantity, this new model should contain up to 1.7 kg of kibble, the distribution of which can be programmed in the Aqara mobile app. This allows you to define a quantity and a schedule for each portion, but must communicate with the Smart Pet Feeder C1 via a gateway, which only offers a ZigBee 3.0 connection. In return, Aqara promises interactions with its other devices.

For example, it will be possible to program the recording of a video after each distribution with a camera such as the G2H Pro in order to check that the animal has indeed come to eat, or to associate a switch or detector of movements or vibrations that the animal could trigger itself to release its croquettes. Voice commands with Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri, as well as the creation of scenarios with IFTTT, are also mentioned. We can even imagine using Matter, which should arrive on Aqara gateways from December 2022.

The app will of course allow you to keep track of the portions of kibble distributed. The manufacturer has also provided the possibility of entering a reference weight for more precise monitoring. To prevent the animal from running out of food in the event of a power or Internet failure, Aqara has provided space for LR20 batteries and enough to memorize the programming directly on the dispenser.

The Smart Pet Feeder C1 should be available very soon on Amazon, especially since a discount code valid until November 17 is planned for the launch: UKEUPFC1. It should entitle you to a 10% discount, but the distributor’s price remains to be confirmed for the time being.
