Arc graphics cards: Intel indicates further delay

The first gaming graphics cards from Intel’s Alchemist family of GPUs will presumably no longer appear until March 2022. The company has removed all references to the first quarter of 2022 as the presentation period from its own website.

In the live stream of the CES 2022 keynote, Intel’s head of the Visual Compute Group Lisa Pearce stated that the first notebooks with independent Arc graphics chips should appear in the course of the first quarter of 2022. The first mobile GPU is called the Arc A370M. The website references to the period disappeared two days later, like Videocardz noticed.

The often well-informed website SemiAccurate reports of a four to six week postponement of the Arc family, but without any indebtedness from Intel. The company has the GPUs produced by the chip contract manufacturer TSMC with its 6-nanometer technology, so it has less control over production than with its own processors, which roll off the assembly line in its own semiconductor factories.

Desktop graphics cards with Intel’s Xe-HPG architecture should actually appear in 2021. Aside from rough features such as hardware ray tracing, Intel writhes around specific information about the upcoming graphics cards.
