ARC Raiders reverts to extraction shooter PvPvE

Vaguely advertised at the start as a cooperative science fiction TPS with a priori classic functioning, RCAF Raiders updated their Steam listing description. If it is still a free-to-play, the title is now described as a ” third-person shooter, free-to-play, PvPvE-oriented, extraction-focused, set in a mortal future on Earth “, can we read.

For those who are not yet used to the term “extraction shooter”, this should not last as this style of play, the foundations of which were laid a few years ago by Escape from Tarkov, seems to be gradually replacing the battle royale in as a big new trend in shooting games. Represented by titles like Hunt: Showdown, Marauders or The Cycle: Frontier, the extraction shooter genre is generally characterized by gameplay that rewards stealth, a sense of risk-taking to obtain more valuable loot and by the loss of his equipment after a death.

While waiting for the first alpha test to which access can be requested on the game’s Steam page, the new description ofRCAF Raiders explains that the action takes place about ten years after the invasion of nasty machines, the ARCs. The population fled to the underground settlement of Speranza, in search of supplies to survive. The demand for resources is therefore at its highest level, but it is still necessary to have the guts and the equipment to go and search the landscape. This is the case of the Raiders, who risk their lives to gather enough to survive. Except that what was initially announced as a fight of man against the machine has therefore turned to PvPvE, which implies having to also beware of other Raiders. ” When you see another Raider being chased by a swarm of ARC drones, do you go for the kill? Are you extending a helping hand? Or do you hold back and relish the precious leftovers? »
