Arc System Works: the creator of the BlazBlue series leaves the studio

After the departure of Yoshinori Ono from Capcom and therefore its distance from street fighter in 2020, it’s the turn of another great fighting game creator to leave his studio and his franchise. Toshimichi Mori, designer of the famous series of BlazBlueindeed announced that he had recently leftArc System Works to sail towards new horizons.

He joined the company 20 years ago and was entrusted with the management of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, released in 2008 on arcade terminals and then on consoles. He has since worked exclusively on the franchise, until crossover BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle in 2018. A mobile episode and ports have taken place since, notably with BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition (available from €35.02 per Fnac), but no new episode seemed to point the tip of his nose. If another is preparing in secret, it would therefore be done without Toshimichi Mori.

I have something to announce to all players. I, Toshimichi Mori, have left Arc System Works, the company I worked for for many years.

I first joined Arc System Works after working on Guilty Gear X as an employee of PicPac and I very much cherish the experiences I had during my 20 years there, whether working for various fighting game titles, developing my own BlazBlue title, or connecting with many of our players.

I have nothing but gratitude to the staff at Arc System Works and others who have worked with me, and all of the players who have supported us. Thank you from the heart.

I will be leaving Arc System Works. This may cause feelings of trepidation, especially among fans of the BlazBlue series. For that, I sincerely apologize.

At the moment, I’m thinking of creating and delivering a game for users one way or another, and I’m going to focus my strength on that goal. Your support would be highly appreciated.

Toshimichi Mori will therefore still remain in the video game world, with a studio that has not yet been specified. As for whether its next title will still be a fighting game or something more original, we will only see later.
