ArcelorMittal: start of the CO2 capture project in Ghent – 05/21/2024 at 10:26

(CercleFinance.com) – ArcelorMittal announced on Tuesday the commissioning of its industrial demonstrator intended to capture gases from the blast furnace of its steelworks in Ghent (Belgium).

This pilot project, carried out in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and BHP, aims to test, over a period of one or two years, the feasibility of the technology aimed at capturing part of the gases emitted by the site.

The program is to take place in two phases: the first consisting of separating the CO2 based on a capacity of 300kg per day.

Secondly, the project will focus on residual gases coming from the hot strip rolling mill, which uses industrial gases, coke gas and natural gas.
