Arctic expedition ships can only go online through Elon’s Musk

Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, Seabourn’s two expedition ships, will be equipped with Starlink Internet. This should make reliable and fast internet available on expedition trips.

Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, Seabourn’s two expedition ships, will be equipped with Starlink Internet. Starlink is a satellite network operated by the US aerospace company SpaceX.

For the Seabourn Venture, the installation was completed in time for the start of her second Arctic season. The Seabourn Pursuit will arrive in summer 2023 and will then already be equipped with Starlink technology from the shipyard.

The Starlink partnership aims to provide reliable and fast internet on expedition trips.

Second arctic season for Seabourn Venture

In mid-May 2023, the Seabourn Venture started its second Arctic season from Greenwich/London. Departing from Reykjavik, Iceland, she will offer a range of 14 and 15 day voyages to Greenland and Iceland, visiting remote destinations such as Scoresby Sound in Greenland, home to the world’s largest and longest fjord system, or Pond Inlet in Nunavut, an Inuit community at the eastern entrance to the Northwest Passage.

On August 27, 2023, the Seabourn Venture will traverse the Northwest Passage for the first time. A first not only for the ship but also for Seabourn. The passage is part of a 23-day voyage from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland to Nome, Alaska.

From Alaska it will then continue along the west coast of America towards Antarctica, where the Seabourn Venture will explore the “Great White Continent” between November 2023 and February 2024.
