ARD chairwoman Patricia Schlesinger has an Audi A8 as a company car, which cost 145,000 euros including massage seats. Now the suspicion of taking advantage is in the room. She is said to have used the car privately, including the chauffeurs, according to one of several allegations.

From the radio contribution: Expensive car at a bargain price

Several allegations have been made against the current ARD chairwoman and RBB director Patricia Schlesinger. She should have her company car, a Audi A8 worth 145,000 euros, received at a preferential price and also used for private purposes – including chauffeur service. The RBB, on the other hand, speaks of a “company discount customary in the industry”. This is said to have amounted to a whopping 70 percent.

Schlesinger is also criticized beyond that. New allegations relate to possibly incorrectly billed official dinners. Advisors for a RBB real estate project are said to come from the environment of the head of the board of directors, Wolf-Dieter Wolf, which he and Schlesinger deny.

in one unusual step ZDF has now also started its own research into possible misconduct by the ARD chairmen. The investigative magazine “Frontal 21” would like to report on the case and has sent the ARD state institutions a catalog of questions.

RBB has set up a whistleblower system to deal with the allegations. Anonymous reports are possible. Also should one external law firm help to clarify the allegations. According to RBB, the examination of the documents will take at least six to eight weeks (source: RTL).

ARD: Broadcasting fee used for expensive company car

For the Audi A8 – and all other expensive company cars of the ARD directors – come the fee payers. The broadcasting fee, which was increased to 18.36 euros per month in August 2021, would have to be paid for almost 660 years just to finance the ARD boss’s company car.
