Ardian to buy Italian Biofarma for €1.1bn – sources

LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) – European private equity firm Ardian has agreed to buy Italian pharmaceuticals maker Biofarma Group for around 1.1 billion euros, its second healthcare investment in less than a year. a year, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The operation, which could be announced as early as Monday, will allow the Paris-based fund to strengthen its position in the lucrative food supplements market, particularly boosted by the coronavirus pandemic, as the population seeks different means of strengthening its immune defences.

Biofarma and Ardian were not immediately available to comment.

According to the sources, the agreement concluded values ​​Biofarma, which achieves a turnover of around 330 million euros, at more than 20 times its result of 50 million euros excluding exceptional items.
