are my children affected by the health pass?

Emmanuel Macron announced that the health pass became compulsory from August for public places with more than 50 people. From what age does this measure apply?

It’s official, from August, the health pass will extend to all public places of more than 50 people (against 1000 currently). This is what Emmanuel Macron said during a speech on July 12. This means that you will have to present proof of vaccination, a negative test of less than 48 hours or a positive test attesting to the recovery from Covid-19 to access bars, restaurants, theaters or even cinema.

A measure taken in particular to encourage the French population to be vaccinated and to stem the epidemic. So far, only 24.4 million people have been fully vaccinated in France. This represents 36.4% of French people.

The compulsory health pass for young people

Are children affected by this health pass? Yes, from a certain age. In fact, vaccination has been open to adolescents aged 12 to 17 for several weeks. They are eligible for the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, the only vaccine authorized for minors by the European Medicines Agency.

Thus, having the possibility of being vaccinated, children over 12 years old will also have to present a health pass. Important information to know before going on a family vacation. If you decide to travel outside of France, it is necessary to find out about the minimum age from which your children will have to carry out a PCR test. If it is 12 years in Spain or Portugal, it is 6 years in Italy or in the Czech Republic.

Where is the status of childhood immunization?

Currently, only children over 12 can be vaccinated. Yet according to Progress and Public Health France, more than 5,000 young people under the age of 11 have already received a first injection of vaccine… and a thousand, both doses. Doctors have the possibility of prescribing any drug and vaccine “without marketing authorization”. But only if they believe it will be beneficial for the child. They must also be able to justify their decision and are required to explain the risks to the patient. They engage their “personal responsibility”.

For the moment, no date has been communicated regarding the opening of vaccination to children under 12 years old. In particular because they contribute little to the spread of the epidemic.
