are our taxes fair?

In France, a lot of things are free! Like the school, the police, the fire brigade, the cycle paths, the sidewalks… To finance all this, the State tax administration collects taxes from the population. It taxes, in theory, more the rich than the poor, and redistributes everything fairly. The idea being in particular to preserve purchasing power. But in practice, it is more complicated.

So do rich people pay too much tax, and poor people not enough? Or is it the reverse? And who benefits the most? Here are the elements of the answer with the data of the study “Income and patrimony of households”, published by INSEE.
