While the strike in Hollywood has just ended (well), Disney has already announced the postponement of numerous films.
It is a strike which lasted several months across the Atlantic, between cinema and television professionals and Hollywood. After 118 days of silence, SAG-AFTRA recently announced the actors’ return to the stage thanks to the establishment of an agreement with the AMPTP.
Disney (Marvel): lots of postponements
Obviously, this historic strike in Hollywood has already had various repercussions on the film and television market… and it is far from over. On the Disney side, we have already formalized various postponements including that of the highly anticipated Deadpool 3. The film bringing together Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is no longer expected for May 3, 2024, but for July 26.
But Deadpool 3 is not the only content affected, and Disney has also announced other cascading postponements. This is the case of Captain America: Brave New Worldwhich slides from July 2024 to February 2025, but also from Blade, which won’t arrive until November 7. Finally, Thunderbolts has also been postponed, and will be screened on July 25, 2025, and not December 20, 2024.
Thus, among the blockbusters signed by Disney, only Deadpool 3 retains its initial release year, set for 2024. For the others, it will therefore be essential to wait until 2025. Note that Disney has also announced a new release date for his next film Mufasa: The Lion Kingwhich will be released on December 20, 2024, instead of July 5.
