To see more clearly, the government has communicated the conditions of access to the reimbursement concerning income tax.
Two possible situations. Because it is not always easy to understand which rights it is possible to have access to or which reimbursements a tax household can claim, the government has clarified the situation. In a communicated published on July 18, the Ministry of the Economy indicated the conditions for access to the 2022 income tax refund.
There are two cases in which it is possible to obtain a refund. If your “withholding taxes, made throughout the last year, were greater than the final amount of your tax” you will be reimbursed for “amount corresponding to the overpayment of tax deducted at source in 2021”, says the ministry. This may especially be the case for those who have seen their wages go down and would not have notified the tax authorities or if the birth of a childgiving the right to an additional half share, was declared too late.
It is also possible to be entitled to “a refund of tax reductions or credits” due to certain expenses. These can be donations, home employment expenses, childcare or rental investments. “The amount reimbursed will correspond to the balance of the tax reductions and credits to which you are entitled, taking into account the 60% advance which may have already been paid to you in January 2022”details the press release.
When will the refund take place?
If you are concerned by this reimbursement, it will take place July 21 or August 2. It will be carried out by transfer if the tax authorities have knowledge of your bank account. It is also possible to consult the bank details which have been provided on the personal space of the impots.gouv.fr website. If no bank account is known, a check will be sent to your home.
