[Deal du Jour] Released at the same time as the PlayStation 5, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a spin-off of the excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man, from Insomniac Games studio. This independent expansion, sold as a separate game, sees the arrival of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man.
What is the promotion on this Spider-Man game?
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales retails for €59.99 on the PlayStation Store. Amazon currently offers the physical version for $29.99, on PS4 and PS5. Be careful though: this game is available for free in digital version on PS4 and PS5, if you have a subscription to PlayStation Plus Extra.
What is this Spider-Man game?
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a spin-off of Marvel’s Spider-Man originally released on PlayStation 4. Still developed by Insomniac Games, this game, which is more of an extension than a real game in itself, is a great showcase for the PS5. You play as Miles Morales, hero of the animated film Spider-Man: Next Generation and that the players have already met (briefly) in the previous game. Miles puts on the spider-man costume to walk the streets of New York in the absence of Peter Parker. Insomniac Games does not change the recipe and the responsibilities of superheroes as well as the passage to adulthood are, once again, the main themes of this new opus.
Overall, the game is essentially the same as its predecessor. The gameplay is unchanged and New York City remains the same big sandbox as in the first one. Miles Morales’ move set is nearly identical, aside from a few character-specific skills. His bioelectric powers and his power of invisibility indeed add some fun gameplay possibilities to the challenges offered.
Is this promotion interesting?
For less than 30 €, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is finally at an acceptable price. The title’s ten hours of play is enough to enjoy the adventure, in the company of a really endearing new hero. But that’s a meager lifespan for a game that sold out when it was released. This promotion is therefore an excellent opportunity to play an entertaining and truly feel good.
Graphically, the game is mainly a technical demo for the Playstation 5. HDR and ray tracing allow incredible light effects. New York City is more realistic than ever. The animations are to die for and it’s a treat to control Miles as he swings through the buildings. Visually, the impression of evolving in an animated film is very present. 4K and ray tracing don’t come without concessions and you’ll have to sacrifice 60 fps to take advantage of it. The Performance mode is certainly more fluid, but ignores the incredible light effects. On PS4 and PS4 Pro, the performance mode is of course not present, but the game does not have to be ashamed graphically, facing the PS5 version. Even with the lack of ray tracing, it’s graphically superb and will blow your console one last time, before moving on to the next generation.
