Are you ready to buy an Apple Vision headset for “only” 2000 euros?

In his weekly newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman indicates that Apple plans to launch a $2,000 “Vision” headset in 2025. Does this little brother of the Vision Pro really have a better chance than the $3 model? 999 euros?

After the Apple Vision Pro, the Apple Vision Pro 2… or just the Apple Vision? The rumors today are contradictory, although it seems obvious that Apple is working on both products.

In his weekly newsletter Power On, journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reveals some details on the future Apple Vision headset, less expensive than the Vision Pro, which he imagines being marketed in 2025, before a Vision Pro 2 in 2026. We discover in particular the price hoped for by Apple: $2,000.

What are the differences between Apple Vision and Apple Vision Pro?

To lower prices from $3,500 to $2,000, Apple would be willing to make some concessions on its mixed reality headset:

  • A less powerful chip than the M2+R1 combo, perhaps with an iPhone chip?
  • A more classic design without an external screen and EyeSight technology, which replicates a false gaze in 3D.
  • Probably inferior characteristics, especially in terms of the screen which is one of the most expensive in the world today.

At $2,000, will Apple be targeting a different market than the Vision Pro?

There remains a major problem for Apple: is there an audience for Vision headsets? Everyone we’ve tried the headset on has loved it, but few would imagine investing such a large sum in this technology. Meta has understood this well with its Quest 3S at 330 euros, which is aimed at rarer use, while Apple continues to choose spatial computing, with an ultra high-end product.

At $2,000 or 2,000 euros, the Apple Vision would still be a premium product, although more affordable than the Vision Pro (since it would cost as much as a MacBook Pro, not double). Apple’s target would therefore be the same as for the Vision Pro, namely people already convinced by this technology and fans of products ahead of their time.

Are there enough people convinced by the Vision Pro, but not rich enough today, to make the future Vision a success? The challenge for Apple is there, while waiting to be able to really cut prices, why not with a product designed as an extension of the iPhone (the power could be delocalized in the iPhone, with a headset that only manages the screens and cameras). According to Bloomberg, the brand is also working on AirPods glasses along the lines of Meta Ray-Ban.
