Probably not the most fashionable device in recent years, the PC speakers yet still exist.

Alongside the announcement of the new Arctis Nova headsets, SteelSeries is presenting the Arena 3, Arena 7 and Arena 9, PC speakers that their manufacturer is targeting more specifically for the world of e-sports… no doubt because the term is perceived as a seller.

The Arena 9 mixes USB 5.1 and wireless

Indeed, even if the segment is not the most popular at the moment, the Arena seem to be classic PC speakers, if not for a few options, a sign of their modernity. Thus, the top of the range – the Arena 9 – is a 5.1 set which is content with a simple USB connection to the PC.

Better, the rear speakers are said wireless and therefore communicate wirelessly with the rest of the kit. SteelSeries, however, seems to connect them together and power them by sector. Each of the four satellites has two channels with a woofer for intermediate frequencies and a Tweeter for the treble.

Of course, a dedicated center speaker is included as well as a subwoofer to handle the bass. The latter is based on an imposing 6.5-inch speaker. A small console allows you to control all the settings of the kit: it is equipped with an OLED screen for more clarity in the choice of options.

SteelSeries finally specifies that in addition to the USB connection allowing connection to PC / Mac (5.1) or PlayStation (2.1 only), we benefit from a Bluetooth connection, an optical input as well as an auxiliary input.

Three kits from 150 to 600 euros

A slightly less ambitious model, the Arena 7 relies heavily on its big brother, from which it borrows the subwoofer as well as two of the four satellites. Logically limited to 2.1, it also benefits from a variety of USB-based connections, but also Bluetooth and optical as well as auxiliary input for great versatility.

We haven’t talked about it for the Arena 9, but the satellites of the two kits have an RGB function that lights up the base and the back of the enclosure to provide additional ambiance: SteelSeries points out that the thing reacts to sound and image of the current game, but does not go into detail about the functionality.

Petit Poucet of the new range, the Arena 3 loses the subwoofer for a “only” 2.0 kit with radically different satellites. SteelSeries refers here to the use of a 4-inch speaker with an organic fiber cone to ” a full range of crystal-clear highs, vibrant mids and powerful bass “.

The Arena 3 loses the optical input, but retains the dual USB/Bluetooth connection as well as the auxiliary input. The three products should now be available on the SteelSeries website and in stores for 149.99 euros (Arena 3), 329.99 euros (Arena 7) and 599.99 euros (Arena 9).
