Argentina’s president to visit Israel in ‘coming weeks’

BUENOS AIRES, Jan 26 (Reuters) – Argentine President Javier Milei announced on Friday at a Holocaust commemoration ceremony in Buenos Aires that he would visit Israel in “the coming weeks.”

If confirmed, it will be one of the first foreign trips for Milei, who took office last December after assuring Israel of his support during the presidential election campaign.

Argentina “would not remain silent in the face of Hamas’ terror,” he stressed in a speech Friday. (Reporting Candelaria Grimberg; French version Lina Golovnya, edited by Sophie Louet)
