Arkema: renewable electricity purchase agreement with EDF

(CercleFinance.com) – Arkema and Nippon Shokubai announced on Tuesday that they had signed a renewable electricity purchase agreement with EDF to cover the energy consumption of their Texas joint venture.

The two chemists indicate that the long-term contract signed with EDF Energy Services will supply 100% of the annual energy consumption of their acrylic monomers joint venture, American Acryl, with wind energy.

EDF Renewables North America, the subsidiary of the EDF group specializing in renewable energies, will supply the Bayport (Texas) site with wind energy from part of its wind farm, which is also based in Texas.

As a reminder, Arkema has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by 2030 compared to 2019 as part of its climate plan, in accordance with the expectations of the Paris Agreement.
