(CercleFinance.com) – Arkema announces that an investment in the Serquigny site, in France, will make it possible to increase the production of the bio-sourced and recyclable PebaxRnew range and the Pebaxtraditionnelle range by around 25%.
The company specifies that the new capacities will make it possible to meet the growing demand in many demanding applications such as sports equipment (soles of running shoes, ski boots or technical textiles), consumer goods (mobile phones and flexible screens ) or the medical field.
In addition, compared to other elastomers on the market, these materials have a carbon footprint up to 50% lower and are fully recyclable, says Arkema.
The start-up of the new capacities is scheduled for mid-2023 and will reduce the site’s water consumption by 25% thanks to process optimization, the company adds.
