Arkema up despite falling results in the 1st quarter

(AOF) – Arkema (+4.23% to 102.20 euros) posted a clear increase this Tuesday after announcing a turnover of 2.3 billion euros for the first quarter, down 7.3 %. The chemist adds that its Ebitda stands at 350 million euros, down slightly compared to last year (367 million euros in the first quarter of 2023), “impacted by the drop in the prices of PVDF and acrylics compared to to the high benchmark of the first quarter of 2023”. The group confirms its 2024 objective of an Ebitda estimated between 1.5 and 1.7 billion euros.

The Ebitda margin, up slightly to 15%, reflects “the dynamic management of sales prices and the benefit of the group’s innovation in solutions with higher added value”.

Growth should be “more focused on the second part of the year, and driven by the ramp-up of main industrial projects and a gradual improvement in market conditions”. Ebitda for the second quarter is expected to increase slightly compared to last year.
