Arlo Technologies adds new references to its catalog. Monday, March 13, the American home automation company, which manufactures wireless security cameras, announced the marketing of its Arlo Pro 5 model. A launch that also allows the brand to offer its new mobile application for download.
New features
The Arlo Pro 5 camera notably benefits from a “2K color night vision” which, according to the brand, is capable of recording six times more color detail than its predecessor, the Pro 4. “With its advanced image sensor, this smart security camera records 2K color video 24/7 and can capture over 68 billion colors, 100 times more than the human eye. “explains the brand.
The 12x zoom feature increases the chances of identifying intruders, with 2K resolution said to eliminate grainy or blurry videos. The camera also features an improved battery, up to 30% more efficient than previous models, and even offers a low power mode.
It is also the first Arlo Pro camera to provide dual-band wifi connectivity and connect to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi frequencies. Finally, the Pro 5 can illuminate faces at a distance of 7 meters thanks to its projector, it is equipped with an integrated intelligent siren and films with a viewing angle of 160°.
A new app
The Pro 5 will therefore be the first camera to launch with the new Arlo Secure app. Powered by a technology dubbed One-Tap, the application would offer faster and more convenient navigation, something that will certainly be verified during a test of the product. Arlo says motion alerts are sent directly to smartphones, and with an Arlo Secure subscription (sold separately), users can identify and prioritize people, cars, pets, and packages. For each alert received, a video recording is saved in the cloud for up to 60 days.
Price and availability
The Arlo Pro 5 camera retails for a suggested retail price of €249.99 for a single camera, or €499.99 for the dual camera kit. It’s available now on Arlo’s website, and will arrive April 1, 2023 at all Arlo retailers.
